UNC Charlotte

The University has more than 21,500 students. The university has seven different departments of study. The departments represent the area that the student chooses to study. The university offers various classes that relate to the chosen study, and students are expected to actively participate in classes that make them better students. Many students start college taking just the basic introduction classes that are required in the departments. The introduction classes might not relate to a student's chosen study, but such classes require students to think about subjects with which they might not be familiar and offer skills that make a student more knowledgeable in life. After students complete the required introduction classes, they begin focusing more on classes that relate to their chosen area of study.

After completing four years of college in a chosen department of study, some students choose to continue their education on a higher level. The higher-level college programs are called the master program and the doctoral program. The University has 61 master's degrees and 18 doctoral degrees. Students who decide to continue in a master's or doctoral program are required to stay additional years in college and do more challenging work in order to earn the higher degree certificate.
