Academic advising services are provided to students who are or are interested in declaring Pre-Communication status, have declared Pre-Communication status, are Communication Studies majors or minors, or are Journalism minors.

Students declaring Pre-Communication status will be asked to declare a track, although they are not required to do so until they are able to declare the Communication Studies major. It is helpful, however, for students to decide upon their major track as early in their college career as possible. Tracks in the Communication Studies major include Health Communication, Organizational Communication, Public Advocacy, Mass Media, and Public Relations.
